Landscape and nature photography have been passions of mine for over 40 years. The places I have lived in—Canada, Germany, Tanzania, England—and the many places I have travelled to have uniquely impacted my work. Even here at home in southern Ontario, I am equally compelled to photograph. Driving along backroads, I hear Laura saying to me, "You're looking for a foreground, aren't you?"
You see, as a landscape photographer, I am first and foremost a big picture thinker. I see the entirety of a place and attempt to capture that context. At the same time, I see the details, the parts of the whole that beg to be noticed. As I work, I have two goals in mind: to reveal the art inherent in nature and, specifically when travelling, to capture the essence of place. I truly hope these ideas come through in my work.
Teaching photography has also been a lifetime pursuit, including college classes, weekend workshops, evening PhotoTalks to photo clubs, and individual "Field & Screen" workshops. For details, visit my Workshops page, where all is explained and my Blog discussing various aspect of photography in greater depth.
My work is also available as archival, fine art prints, each one individually printed on museum quality cotton rag paper with pigment inks. Head over to Prints for more information.
